Verti-Mix?

In their heyday, horizontal paddle
mixers came to dominate the Irish
market. These days, we’ve reached the point where vertical auger type diet mixer-feeders are taking half of the market. As you might expect, some vertical mixers are better than others – for example, our German built Verti-Mix delivers top end performance
whilst still representing excellent value for money. Much of the impetus for the growth in Verti-Mix sales comes from independent nutritionist advice to their dairy farmer clients.
Here’s a summary of the key points in favour of investing in a Strautmann Verti-Mix rather than a horizontal paddle type machine:
...herd sizes are increasing. You can have much more body capacity with a Vertical auger diet feeder – up to 28 cum with the Strautmann. Self-propelled units are available too.
...if you’re currently using a paddle mixer for diet feeding, you’ll know that mixing ability drops off dramatically when you fill above
the paddle shaft. After the bale chopping phase, the Strautmann can normally be filled to 90% of total capacity without spilling.
.. a lot of time – with a faster mix
(typically 15mins when bale chopping) and a faster feed-out too – typically 1.5 to 2mph when feeding a full ration to cows at the barrier.
...probably the most important reason to buy a Strautmann, you can ‘process’ the feed to provide a mix which delivers the ideal rumination structure to prevent acidosis - but stops the cow from sorting or picking through the mix.
